Exhibition complete, What’s next?
This Monday was bump out day and we began the dismantling and pack down process of our 3 month exhibition at Mundaring Art Center.
Over the last three months, Cath and I presented 54 pieces of art including my 108 cups and the published works of my “108 cups a journal”.
We co-created an interactive artwork called Sankalpa, inviting people to contribute with an intention and item foraged from nature. A collective art work that represented the interconnected threads of intention, community and the connection we have with nature and the relationship between Cath and I, the artists working together.
We engaged with the community on our artist talks and forage walks plus our individual workshops and book reading events that we facilitated.
Cath and I are currently overwhelmed with gratitude for all the love and support we received during the time. It has given us much encouragement to continue our journey, creating art together and individually as we move forward.
Personally, the experience gave me more of an understanding of who I am and what I want to experience as an artist along with how I intend to actualise along the way.
I met some wonderful people who took the time to ask and learn about my process which, to me, is what I love to talk about the most. Its less about the end product and more about how I got there in the first place. That is the most important aspect of being an artist.
My book “108 cups, a journal” was received in sell out proportions and so many beautiful responses of understanding, love and respect. I really loved the intimate book reading evening and answering everyones questions.
As I reflect on this past year of art, publishing and exhibiting, It became obvious to me that what I a have been missing for a while is community. I do tend to find myself in “hermit mode” more than I intended these days and as much as this is where all the dreaming and playing and learning happens, I really miss working alongside others.
Winter has given me time to work on my own personal art and design projects, like hand made ceramic tiles, ceramic lamps and the beginnings of a new book, but as I move forward, I want my studio to be a place for more connection, free drop ins, more poetry readings, gatherings and art.
So by the time spring returns I will have an abundant of beautiful offerings here for you all. Including field work, foraging and plant art studies, printing, preserving and documenting our findings. with the purpose of exploring nature and learning from it.
Along with this, offerings in ceramics, online and in person as to meet everyones needs.
SO if you haven’t already, please subscribe to my newsletter list to be the first to enrol into some of these events. I hold very intimate workshops and tickets always go fast so email subscribers will get first opportunities.
